We rested in La Paz through Thanksgiving then crossed the Sea of Cortez to the Mexican mainland where we wintered. Grandma Sue joined us for Christmas in Mazatlan. We quickly moved south to Zihuatenejo while DrC worked. There we met Uncle Glenn and spent an enjoyable month before cruising north with the multihull fleet.
The hurricane season saw us heading north into the Sea of Cortez. We spent about a month traveling in the States visiting national parks in the southwest but otherwise enjoyed the wonders of the sea north of Agua Verde. Santa Rosalia was a have to family, even during The Storm - Hurricane Jimena. However, we were happy when DrC rejoined the family and we headed south again.
By Nov 2009, we knew we had a job in New Zealand. We used our last free months in Mexico to visit with family and friends as well as return to some of our favorite spots. It was back to La Paz to prepare Don Quixote for sale. We decided to sell the boat rather than leave her on the hard for a year unused. This will help us financially and give us more flexibility after DrC’s contract in New Zealand ends. For six weeks, we tinkered, cleaned, painted, scrubbed, and fixed. We also threw a lot of stuff away and packed packed packed.
